Vehicle Rental Agreement

This is the agreement between you ("Renter") and Shorty LLC doing business as 8GO8 Auto Rentals ("Owner"). You accept it when you check the agreement box while booking, and you confirm it again at pickup.

1. The vehicle and the rental period

The vehicle, pickup and return dates, daily rate and any delivery or pickup service are those shown in your booking request and confirmation email. The rental starts when you take the keys and ends when the vehicle and keys are returned to us at the agreed place and time.

2. Who may drive

  • The Renter must be at least 25 years old and hold a valid, unexpired driver license.
  • Only the Renter, and any additional driver we approve in writing who meets the same requirements, may drive.
  • We verify your license and photo ID at pickup and may refuse the rental if we cannot verify you; the deposit is then refunded.

3. Condition and inspection

We will document the vehicle's condition, fuel level and mileage with photos at pickup. Please report anything we missed before you leave. You return the vehicle in the same condition, except for normal wear.

4. Permitted and prohibited use

You agree that you will not:

  • drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that impairs driving;
  • drive on beaches, sand, unpaved or off-road surfaces, or any road closed to rental cars;
  • race, tow, push or carry anything that exceeds the vehicle's rating, or carry more passengers than seat belts;
  • use the vehicle for ride-share, delivery, rental to others, or any illegal activity;
  • take the vehicle off Oahu or onto a ferry or barge;
  • smoke or vape in the vehicle (a cleaning fee of $250 applies);
  • let anyone else drive who is not an approved driver.

5. Mileage, fuel and cleanliness

Unlimited mileage on Oahu. Return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had at pickup, or we will charge the actual cost of refueling plus a reasonable service fee. Return it reasonably clean; excessive dirt, sand, odors or stains may incur a cleaning fee.

6. Late returns

Please tell us right away if you will be late. Without our approval, the car is due back by 10:00 PM on your return date (or the time we agreed). After that, each extra day or part of a day is billed at the daily rate plus a $50 late fee per day, because a late return forces us to rearrange our schedule and other renters. If you do not return the vehicle, we may report it as stolen to the police.

7. Insurance, damage and your responsibility

  • You must keep the vehicle locked and the keys safe. Lost keys are charged at replacement cost.
  • You are responsible for loss of or damage to the vehicle during the rental, including theft, collision, and damage to tires, glass, undercarriage and interior, whoever is at fault, up to the vehicle's repair cost or value, loss of use, towing and administrative fees.
  • If our insurance coverage applies to a loss, your responsibility is limited to a deductible of $1,000 per incident, unless the loss resulted from a prohibited use, intoxicated driving, or a breach of this agreement, in which case you are responsible for the full amount.
  • You should confirm whether your own auto insurance or credit card covers rental vehicles. We recommend you carry coverage.
  • You are responsible for tickets, tolls, parking fines and tow charges during the rental, plus a reasonable administrative fee if we have to handle them.

8. Accidents and breakdowns

In an accident, make sure everyone is safe, call 911 if anyone is hurt, and call the police for any accident with another vehicle, injury or significant damage. Do not admit fault. Take photos, exchange information and contact us as soon as possible at reservations@8go8autorentals.com. Do not repair the vehicle yourself. If it breaks down, contact us before arranging any service.

9. Payment and card authorization

You authorize us to charge the card you provide for: (a) the booking deposit (30% of the estimated total, up to $100); (b) the remaining rental balance, including taxes, surcharges and any delivery fee (unless you chose to pay the balance in cash at pickup); and (c) additional amounts owed under this agreement, such as extra days, fuel, cleaning, tolls, tickets, administrative fees, and damage under Section 7. We will email you a receipt, and for damage charges we will send you an explanation. This authorization remains in effect until all amounts owed are paid.

10. Cancellation

Cancel at least 72 hours before pickup for a full deposit refund. Later cancellations and no-shows forfeit the deposit. See the Terms of Use.

11. Our right to end the rental

We may end the rental and repossess the vehicle without refund if you break this agreement, use the vehicle unsafely or illegally, or we reasonably believe it is at risk. You agree to return it when asked.

12. Liability and indemnity

You agree to be responsible for, and to reimburse us for, claims, costs and fines arising from your use of the vehicle during the rental, except to the extent caused by our negligence or a defect in the vehicle we should have known about. We are not responsible for belongings left in the vehicle.

13. General

This agreement, the Terms of Use and your booking confirmation are the whole agreement. Hawaii law governs it, and disputes will be heard in Honolulu, Hawaii. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Your electronic acceptance has the same effect as a signature.
